Samuel heard daddy pull into the garage. He jumps up and darts to the door because he wants to open the door for daddy. Samuel didn't make it in time before somebody else opened the door...he sadly turns around and buries his head into the couch and begins to pout.
Daddy is inside by this time and he is knelt down beside Samuel waiting for the normal big bear hug and excited little boy but Samuel is just too upset that he didn't get to open the door that he missed out on loving his daddy.
Loving daddy was the whole point of opening the door!
This was such a good picture of how we can get easily distracted on "opening the door" or doing "good things" for our Heavenly Father and we miss our daddy that just got home, who wants to love on us, listen to us, and share with us.
Just like Ryan wants Samuel to be excited about "opening the door" the Lord delights in our excitment to serve Him but He wants us to LOVE Him with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength!
